  Sister Hyde was formed in 2006 at a New York Dolls concert in Seattle by Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist HYde. Hyde forged the Sister Hyde sound with his Brit Glitter Rock and early UK Punk influences in mind and added a decidedly current twist.
  In 2007 Sister Hyde released their self-titled debut album.They were signed to Heart Of Steel Records.
  In 2012, Hyde relocated to Canada. Sister Hyde's second album"Sex Change" was released in Nov 2013 to critical acclaim.Extensive touring followed with festival performances around the globe.
  Insatiable, Sister Hyde's third album is currently being mixed by Rob Sanzo (Sum 41,Danko Jones).and is slated for a 2017 mid summer release on vinyl.

  SEX CHANGE by SISTER HYDE IS A GREAT CD TO LISTEN TO IF YOU LIKE PURE ROCK SOUNDS COMING STRONG FROM THE GUITAR,BASS AND DRUMS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE DARK,LOUD,STRONG VOCALS, THEN GET READY TO ROCK...THIS CD WAS MADE FOR YOU!
  The cd starts off with "On The Rails"" which consists of three minutes of pure rock 'n roll. Halfway through this song, there is a great guitar solo and at the end it gives the "dropping the mic" effect a whole new meaning and leaves you with goosebumps anticipating the rest of the album. IIt's a great song to start the cd.
  The next song is "I'm Not Your Canine". Great vocals! Nice dark and intense song to listen to.Turn up the speakers of your radio and Rock with this song!
  "Cock of the Town" starts off strong and has a screaming effect with fast tone.It is a shorter song only lasting about two minutes.
  "Death City" has a great guitar and drum mixture in the begining.It has a darker effect with lower vocal sounds than the other songs. It has a great story that younger people can relate to who are still in school stuck in their city and can't leave yet. Ted is saying how he is not going to let the city drag him down and be stuck in it.
  "Wanna Have Sex with You" is pretty much just HYde explalnng everything he wants to do to his woman.
  "Peter Pan Syndrome" basically implies the whole "reach out your hands" approach and is the feel-good power ballad of the album.
  Next is "Journey to the Center of the Earth". I found it very easy to get involved in this song with the feeling of more than one vocalist unlike any of the previous songs.
  "Little Miss Mousetrap" is a great headbangin'song with different vocals from the rest.
  "Sex Change" is the title song.Great song! Easy to follow and get involved with. Basically it;s saying to be your own sex symbol.
  The last song on this album is "High Maintenance Bitch' It is the longest song on the album. The singer talks about this high maintenance bitch that everyone at one time has encountered or dated.It is a pretty sweet song!
  If you like creepy,dark and cleverly beautiful music, this is your album. Ted is the songwriter and fronts the band as the singer and lead guitarist, Born in London,(he grew up in Canada and later moved to LA), this talented artist is vocally,lyrically and instrumentaly on point with all his songs.   "We spoke with vocalist HYde of Sister Hyde, one of the most popular bands of the Canadian rock scene!

  Alice Cooper, New York Dolls T-Rex and led the way in the 70s to Glitter Rock with glitter and lipstick, adding a touch of glamour to punk. But glam rock is still going strong in the underground scene of Toronto with Sister Hyde, one of it's most renowned representatives.
  We spoke with vocalist HYde of Sister Hyde, the frontman of a band that some have compared to GNR or Motley Crüe.
  
  1. Why did you choose the name of Sister Hyde?
  
  I wanted something that was as androgynous as Alice Cooper and also I saw a horror film from Hammer called Sister Hyde In the film, Dr. Jekyll drinks the potion and becomes a female assassin. I loved the idea of this transformation on stage in front of an audience. Sister Hyde is a carnival, the evil twin of my zodiac sign (Gemini).
  Alice Cooper was the name of a witch and Marilyn Manson chose his name mixing the actress with the psychopath. Hyde is the name of a fictional monster, but is also the evill side that is within each of us. Everyone has a Dr. Jeckyll and Hyde inside, right?.Life isn't about finding yourself,life is about creating yourself.
  
  2.Alice Cooper, Bowie, Iggy Pop, Michael Monroe, T Rex, The Troggs or Motley Crue? What are your influences?
  
  Alice Cooper was my main influence as a kid.
  I played hooky in High School and hitchhiked to one of his concerts and was picked up by his roadies!Many lines of Peruvian cocaine later(theirs) and seeing the concert from the stage___ I was hooked on Rock and Roll!
  Other influences were Iggy and The Stooges, The New York Dolls, Bowie, T Rex. Later, I loved LA Guns, the Crue, GnR. We'v also had comparisons to Marilyn Manson. I can not fail to mention the Sex Pistols and British Punk freom the 70's.
  
  3.Sister Hyde is one of the greatest exponents of the Toronto rock scene. How do you fit into the scene?
  Toronto has been the city of skyscrapers, the economic center of Canada and is also cosmopolitan and has been recently voted the number one city to live in in the world!
  Having said that, the audience here is usually reserved, aloof and indifferent.Fortunately it has not been the case with Sister Hyde!.
  
  The public response has been very strong.Everyone wants to escape!. It is pure entertainment and we give them FUN.Ya never know what I'll do next!. I have a devil may care attitude. We do alot of theatrics...like simulating oral sex on stage and whipping my guitar! The crowd goes crazy with the show.
  
  Glam Glam Rock or Metal?
  
  Rock and Roll!. In fact I call it GlitterPunk. Pure Glam Punk Rock or Glitter tinged metal, picking up the legacy of Sunset Strip. I lived in Hollywood for several years and was very involved in all the action of the Strip.
  
  The 80's over and the grunge of the 90's swept around your move from Los Angeles to Seattle... Now that the 20th anniversary of the death of Kurt Cobain, Nirvana what do you think?.
  
  Kurt bought his last dose of heroin a few blocks from where I lived in Seattle. He was someone who hated celebrity and being in the public eye. If you are married to Courtney Love, there is only one way out ... I did not like the fashion but I loved Nirvana at the time. Unfortunately, they inspired many imitators like Nickleback who became pure corporate grunge.
  
  6. What is the creative process behind your music ?
  
  Sometimes I wake up with a riff in my head or I actually hear the melody in my dream. I record it on my cassette player (I'm old school) and then write the first thing that comes to mind and that is appropriate for the song. I feel very fortunate because my dreams are the inspiration for many of my songs.
  
  7 When you come to Spain?
  
  We are about to embark on a tour that we perhaps take in Madrid. We have received fantastic reviews from dozens of Spanish magazines!they have interview us and are interested in our career.
  
  10. Would you consider yourself an outsider?
  
  My father, a senior official in the government was appointed Canadian Ambassador to Mexico, Guatemala and Venezuela. In Mexico City I went to art school and ended up frequenting some bad company that introduced me to a life of sex, drugs and rock and roll. ha ha
  
  One day my father received a top secret report about me from the RCMP. He was told that his son was involved in this and that ... and decided that the best thing for me was to get me out of the country before it could tarnish his reputation. Mexican police cars escorted me to the airport while I sat in the back of the embassy limo and ended up coming back to Canada and fronting a punk band.
  
  I've always been the black sheep of my family, the outsider. As Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper and Gene Simmons would say,I would not change anything I've done.

  Summon: How did the band get started?
  
  The band was formed in LA in 2006 at a New York Dolls Concert! I saw some likely looking suspects and we started talking about a band that had the excitement of Glam and the edge of Punk! We wanted to be as pretentious on stage as possible just to be extremely different from all the shoe-gazers cookie cutter non image bands around at the time!
  
  Summon: What kind of music do you play?
  
  GLITTERPUNK...a mix of Glitter Rock and Early Punk!!!Some people group us into the Sleaze-rock category. Really it's just rock n roll...the devil's music...where have all the bad boy's gone? I created the songs with a decidedly current feel but I write what I want to and I've always had the same influences, no matter what the flavor of the day was/is. I am a prolific writer...I dream of songs and get up at 3 in the AM and put em down on my portable cassette player! I don't own a computer, a cell phone or a TV station. I rent horror movies every night when I'm not on the road. I don’t have a job and I'm free to work on my own stuff during the day. I practice my set every day and write new material. I also do some art...painting, sculpture and drawing.
  
  How has the band response been?
  
  AMAZING...Makin' new Rabid fans and Fanatics at every show. Join the Sisterhood!!!I hear this a lot..."I haven't been excited at a show for a long, long time!"...I hear a cheer of repressed rock and roll fervour at our shows! People, no matter where, want to be entertained! It's like a Glam monster taxi cab..pickin up new and faithful fans one at a time.
  
  Where did the band name come from?
  
  Sister Hyde is a 70's British "Hammer" Horror movie! Jeckyll turns into a KILLER woman! I wanted something as androgynous as Alice Cooper and I wanted a band name, not just my name. It works well don't you think? Like Mister Hyde but Sister Hyde! I've always had a fascination with the Dickensian period of London, where I'm from. Cobble-stoned streets under gas lamps where HYde feels at home hiding in the shadows of the London fog.

  Who writes the music? Lyrics?
  
  I write all the music and lyrics and arrange the tunes. I have over 100 songs...too many tunes is my problem...I'm trying to sell some of 'em...Wanna buy one? I dig The Beatles tunes....They cover the 5 W's of song writing. They tell stories, they have harmonies and mid-eights, bridges and catchy choruses. I have songs that you remember walking out of a show and you can't say that about too many bands!
  
  And where do the lyric ideas come from?
  
  Real life experience! I live or have lived my songs...relationships gone wrong, feeling trapped, feeling horny...the human condition. Characters, my lyrics are character -driven. I have created myself through my lyrics and my character and I sing 'em all differently...like an actor would approach different roles. It's kinda my unspoken gimmick and again, most other singers, bands are one-trick ponies, that is, what you see and hear in the first 3 minutes what you are going to get for the next hour. They are limited by a style, voice and repeated moves. With me, you never know what I'm going to do next! I have devil may care attitude and a controlled recklessness...I call it "The theater of chaos."
  
  How many albums/CD's have you released?
  
  The debut Sister Hyde self-titled album was released in 2007 and we were signed to the Italian label Heart of Steel Records. You can hear it @ www.reverbnation.com/sisterhyde. The new album "Sex Change" was just released last month! Hear it @ http://www.tedaxe.bandcamp.com/ .The first album had 6 years of work on it...17 songs all recorded at the same studio. The new album "Sex Change" has the kind of rare sound and playing that many bands would give their eye teeth to have. It has the ideal sound and execution for a Rock band. It's heavier than the first and the lyrics are more explicit! There is a mad tension in the vocals and the solos I play are electrifying! No filler here...all 100% rock and roll...all great songs that are bound to become classics!
  
  Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD?
  
  "High Maintenance Bitch" is about someone I knew in LA when I lived there! "On The Rails" is an ode to marching powder."I Wanna Have Sex With You" is about well...,"Cock of the Town" is a play on words,"Death City" is about being trapped in a place you don't want to be...(kinda the story of my life),"Little Miss Mousetrap" will catch you in her trap and "Peter Pan Syndrome" is about giving advice to yourself and it being time to grow up! With all the testosterone flowing through these songs, I wanted to write something sincere for the album and it Rocks."Sex Change" is about "my baby being a sex change! I like to keep my audience guessing as to my gender preference ...gotta have that androgynous thang going on in the true 70's Glitter rock tradition. We like to play Pride every year and we have been embraced by the Gay press!
  
  Do you have any side projects?
  
  I am currently recording my more eclectic tunes with a producer here in Toronto who again is doing me for free and am making videos of 'em. There is a Rap tune, a Goth, dark electro romp entitled "Necromance" and some acoustic ballads t5hat show my other more sensitive side Some of it is pretty deep and heavy emotionally so it gives me a chance not to waste the songs that I can't do in Sister Hyde. It’s my solo project and I am trying to license them and/or sell them to other more known artists. i am going to be releasing them on an album soon. It will be called Jeckyll, the other side of Mistter Hyde!It's working out great! If you go to sisterhydeband on YouTube, you can hear 'em!
  
  Who are some of your musical influences?
  
  Bowie during his Ziggy/Alladin Sane period,Alice Cooper band,Iggy and The Stooges,NY Dolls,Sex Pistols,TRex,Mott The Hoople and James Brown and The Beatles are some!Although my stuff has an 80s vibe, my influences are all from the 70s...the coolest period!

  What is the band like when you play live?
  
  Decadent, Delicious and Delinquent!!!Picture this...dry ice and fog partially obscure a red stage and then the band comes on .Flashing strobe lights animate the band as we head into "On The Rails" kick-starting the audience's endorphins in a sexually-charged introduction to the world of Sister Hyde! There are no breaks to catch a breath as one tune after another is discharged onto the audience! I am very demonstrative and theatric and my right strumming arm and hand paints pictures in between chords that go along with my suggestive lyrics I’ll have a focus and I am an entertainer...I was born to do this and the audience gets their money's worth. It's non stop piledriver of a show and at the end, there is a finale...a spectacle that makes us a very hard act to follow. I am bringing back the Rock n Roll spectacle.
  
  What was the best band you played with?
  
  Veins of Jenna in Seattle,LA Guns and Faster Pussycat and Nashville Pussy in LA! We hope to get the opening slot for Judas Priest at Pride 2014 in Toronto next year.
  
  Have you guys ever played in another country?
  
  Sister Hyde did a European jaunt in 2010! Holland and Germany were OUTstanding!INSANE!!!There Rock appreciation is at an all-time high!
  
  How big of crowd shows up at shows usually?
  
  100-300 minimum in smaller venues and 1-10,000 in mid-size to arena size.
  
  How is the crowd response when you play?
  
  RABID!!!
  
  What is the scene like over in your country?
  
  Canada has is a Brilliant scene...there is always something going on as far as events ext for bands to play in Toronto! It's considered the best city for music in the world right now but the worst audiences! People here are up tight and self-conscious. They are sexually repressed and afraid of their bodies and so...they don't dance, they only move or show appreciation when it's safe to do so. They tend to stand at least 10 feet from the stage and there is a space in front of the stage...that is until I coax them up to the stage with my charm! ha!.Montreal is French and only 6 hours away and it's the opposite. There, they are liberal and very physical and emotive! I LOVE playing there! Still...the world needs more Canada!!!
  
  What made you want to be in this band? And if you weren't in this band what would you being doing now?
  
  This band is me...one side of me! I am the eternal punk and bonnafide rockstar. I dress this way everyday...top hat, eye makeup, pale face, painted on black skinny jeans, beetle boots, leather black trench coat and gloves. I want to incorporate stage sets as I am set designer and illustrator as well! I would most likely be an illustrator if not in a band OR I might most likely be in jail!! I live on the edge. My moto is "Have a good time all the time" and I have an extremely addictive personality. I want it all and I want it now...all the time. I am an extremist. On stage I am over the top, a storm trooper and I channel Iggy and The NY Dolls, Jim Morrison and David Bowie. Success to me is doing what you love and loving the way you do it! Life isn't about finding yourself...it's about creating yourself! I am my own sex symbol...I think that hero and celebrity worship today is gross...you have to be a celebrity and your own star! Why put other band's videos on your FB site..you are only selling records for them...put your own stuff up, create your own art, music, style! If you have an original style...a voice that stands up and shouts...this is me...then you will be successful! Aim Big and walk tall! Shrinking does not do the world a service.

  I am listening your new album, it is a GREAT PUNK/GLAM ROCK ALBUM!!! Please, present Sister Hyde for people that doesn´t know the group.
  
  Welcome to the world of Sister Hyde! I am HYde, the frontman,singer'songwriter and lead guitarist of the band and I formed Sister Hyde in Seattle at a New York Dolls concert with some other shady looking dudes that were hangin' about! With my Brit Glitter Rock and early Punk influences in mind,I wanted the excitement and glamour of Glam and the urgency and release of Punk! I wanted to be as pretentious as possible and the total opposite of shoe-gazer- indie rock bands where every band looks the same and seem to go out of their way to be as boring on stage as possible! You know...lets get back to great songs,guitar solos, great image and Sex drugs and nasty dirty Rock and Roll!
  
  2. You formed the group after a New York Dolls concert, is this one of your influences? I can hear influences since glam to punk, since AC/DC to Marilyn Manson, since NY Dolls to Alice Cooper, a soup of diverses influences. Which real influences have you got?
  
  2/ Alice Cooper was a huge influence as was The New York Dolls! Loved the androgynous quality of both! Iggy and The Stooges,David Bowie's Glam period(that androgynous thing again),I like the Horror movie vibe and always go for a dark Gothic Glam image with top hat and leather black trench coat with heavy racoon eye-make up for an image. ACDC,The Beatles(Great songs and probably the best writing ever),Mick and Keef and The Stones of course! Gary Glitter,Mott The Hoople and The Sex Pistols are all influences for Sister Hyde. I don't dig anything new! Is that bad?But I am creating a new sound with a decidedly current twist!
  
  3. Congratulations for new brand album, it sounds great, wich are your expectatives about this album?
  
  3/Cheers!I really just did what I wanted and I think it shows! IThe album is already being played by radio stations in the US and Canada,Germany,Chec Republic,South America and Spain! It is going to take over internet radio! World domination is my goal! I want to get signed to a very cool label that can distribute world-wide and give Sister Hyde the tour support and promotion the band deserves!Really I just want people to hear it and make their own minds up!I like it...other people are bound to like it as well!I want to take it to the next level and "Sex Change" the new album is my vehicle to get there!
  
  4. In 2007 the group publish the first album titled like the band, how do you think have evolutioned the group sound since first album from last?
  
  4/The first album was indeed released in 2007. The new album is heavier,darker,less poppy in places and "Sex Change" ,our new release goes for the jugular and doesn't let go!!!It is produced better with a deeper more expensive and expansive sound while it retains a live feel! This is dirty, nasty Rock and Roll.It has all the crunch,song- crafting and catchy hooks of the first album but I think it rocks even more!   5Well we had moved to the more fertile pastures of Seattle and I was suffering through the recession but it was getting bad! Sister Hyde was a Glam band in Seattle which is akin to finding a raised toilet seat in The Vatican... It's not supposed to happen and I was feeling like I needed greener pastures. Well my old band, Canadian Punk affcianados The Action called me up out of the blue and were having a reunion show in Ottawa,Caanada after inking a couple of record deals! They offered to pay for me,my girl and guitar to come by plane...we decided to move up there and shipped my amp up and stuff! That was in 2009 and when The Action disbanded we moved to Toronto and reformed Sister Hyde. I am glad I did although I miss the liberalism of living in The States.You know they call it Toronto The Good!
  
  6/Cheers for your faith in the band Roberto! I know Sister Hyde will fit into the return to the Rock and Roll roots sound of such bands and The Canadian scene but I think we offer something different as well! I am talking to clubs and hi- profile bands in NYC and we are planning to go down there soon and make some noise! We feel that we may have to go out of Canada and return with alcolades before getting respect here(that's the way it's always been in Canada) but Toronto is a Rock and Roll town from way back and there is alot of people here who just want to go out and ROCK but can't find a band to rock and roll with! Also we are very inetersted in getting over to Germany wher the band is now recieving extensive radio play on many internet sations. Holland and Scandinavia are very apppreciative of this kind of music and I need to play Spain soon and perform for all your readers and Glam GlitterPunk fans there!
  
  7/The group toured in 2012 for Europe, how was the experience? With the new album, will you return to Europe for a tour?
  
  7/That was an incredible experience Roberto! We performed in Holland and ventured into Germany as well! As I said,the audiences we encountered (and these were young audiences) were totally different than here and appreciate Rock and Roll as opposed to only Hip Hop ext! We made alot of freiends and fans and we will be returning but this time want to go up to Scandinavia! A label with enough dough for tour support would really help us in our quest for World Domination!So labels,if you are reading this...
  
  8. I can see you gives a great importance to theatral details, is this a main objective of the group or only a music compliment?
  
  8/It goes hand in hand with Sister Hyde. The art of performance is impotant. I have fog and strobes. The band wears black leather. I want to eventually incorporate sets. Its all about creating what I call "The Theater of Chaos".It should be like a movie and take the audience on a trip into the world of Sister Hyde. It's fierce and I am stormtrooper on stage. I interact with the audience and have been known to get female audience members on stage with me!I am bringing back the Rock spectacle from the days of The Who and Jimi Hendrix! It's Dickensian as well. I fantasize about having a past life on the gas-lit cobblesstone streets of Old Jack The Ripper era London and Ii am living it again now on stage.I'm a killer and I take no prisoners!
  
  9. Your lyrics are so explicits, what are your inspiration for chosing a song theme?
  
  9/ I like to go for the jugular.In this day and age there's no time to muck about. One reviewer commented that I sing about things that most of us are too afraid to say. I like to press buttons,take risks,grab opportunities and Rock iIS contact sport after all! The inspiration for my lyrics come from real life experience and I do live on the edge. Life is not about finding yourself,Life is about creating yourself! Too many people dream their life instead of living their dreams. When I talked to Syl Sylvain from The New York Dolls about producing Sister Hyde he told me..."You gotta mix the DIRT with the music!" and I've been doing that ever since. This album drips with SEX,DRUGS and ROCK and ROLL with titles like "Wanna Have Sex With You","Little Miss Mousetrap', "On The Rails" and "High Maintenance Bitch". I like to tell stories and I thiink people relate to 'em.

Strobe lights are flashing through dense smoke and girls are being pushed up to the lip of the stage as I come on swinging my axe!The performance is Elictrifying...I believe in making a Statement and I'm no shrinking violet! The show finale has to be seen to be believed but it is guarenteed to WHIP an audiece into a frenzy!!!I hope to see all your readers at our show when we play Spain!
  
  11/ Like vocalist and guitar player, which are your main influences?
  
  11/Guitar influeces are Jimi Hendrix, (Big fan of his Montery Jazz Fest performance...his absolute best!)Johnny Thunders, Mark Bolan, Angus from ACDC,The Stooges guitarists Ashton and Williamson, Steve Jones from The Sex Pistols and Mick Ronson. Vocally I am influenced by James Brown,Davis Bowie, Iggy Pop,Alice Cooper and Johnny Rotten. I love Paul and John when they were Beatles...(amazing vocals) and I dig all Black R&B from the 70s. Sly Stone was an underated vocalist!Today's R&B sucks and Black music is at an all-time low. I am really a Blues axeman and singerand I play a mean Blues harp!I like to have different vocal styles for different songs and this is what makes me unique in the world of vocalists. Most singers have only one voice that they use over and over again. You can tell it;s me singing when you hear me and that is the cornerstone of a singer's(any artist's) successs..an original style!

  12/The Beatles 1964-1968 (probably the Greatest Pop music ever written), Diamond Dogs by Bowie, Scools Out and Love It To Death by Alice Cooper,Never Mind The Bollocks kicks ass to this day And I would have to bring James Brown's Sex Machine album..can't forget the New York Dolls album with them on the cover all in drag!Of course my choice ...if there was only one album I could bring...It would have to be "SEX CHANGE" by Sister Hyde!
